Tyler The Creator Cancels Australian Tour
Tyler, The Creator has been forced to cancel his upcoming Australian tour. Tyler had been scheduled to play all-ages gigs in Sydney and Brisbane plus over-age shows in Melbourne and Perth in September. The rapper has been accused of homophobia and sexism in the past.

A statement on Facebook from Tyler’s touring company Frontier Touring confirms that Australia has not banned him; rather, it was his own decision to cancel the dates because, “We would much rather come to Australia when it isn’t surrounded in controversy”. I love my fans there and hopefully I’ll be back soon. “Don’t do drugs”.
Frontier Touring says it “sincerely apologises to all those affected by this cancellation”.
After Tyler tweeted that he’d been banned from Australia, Collective Shout Director of Operations Coralie Alison was subject to a disturbing torrent of non-stop abuse at the hands of the rapper’s fans. Alison has since received death and rape threats from fans of the artist angry at what he claimed had happened. Refunds will be available from 12pm AEST Monday 10th August.
However, Activist group Collective Shout had campaigned against the September tour urging Immigration Minister Peter Dutton to deny Tyler a visa claiming that his music promotes and glorifies violence against women.
Collective Shout has gone head to head with Tyler in the past, so this isn’t a first. Full refunds are being offered to ticket holders, as well. It can take some time to process, so please give Ticketmaster up to 7 days to process your refund before you start to worry. Tyler, The Creator distanced himself from their comments. Contact their box office on 1300 BIG TOP if you have any concerns.
