The 27-year-old Fury (25-0) wasn’t intimidated by Klitschko and taunted and baited him at times during the match. Fury lost 32 kilos in five months to get in shape for the fight.

The man just stripped the 39-year-old Ukranian heavyweight champion of four titles-the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO belts-in an unanimous victory, 115-112, 115-112, and 116-111. The fight took place in Dusseldorf from the ESPRIT Arena and aired live on HBO.

Fury revealed on the morning of the fight that his wife Paris is expecting their third child. Many boxing aficionados predicted Wladimir’s experience and savvy to be the defining element in a victory for the Ukrainian Klischko, but instead Fury made it a fight from the opening bell. “I knew I was behind and had to land the punches”. This was a poor display by Klitschko who finished with cuts to both cheeks while Fury was unmarked. Klitschko said he will “definitely” use the option of a rematch, which is in the fight contract. It’s going to happen, but it’s worth wondering if Klitschko, who turns 40 in March, can really do anything differently, or if Fury is just a bad matchup and a fighter who makes him too uncomfortable to pull the trigger.

“I came here to Germany in the lion’s den to a great, great champion in Wladimir Klitschko and my lord, my saviour, my rock, my foundation, gave me the glory tonight”. He struggled to work him out, suffered damage around both eyes and at the end accepted the loss of his WBA, IBF and WBO titles with dignity.

Vitali is quoted as saying by BBC Sport: “I know how good Wladimir is and Wladimir did not show how good he is”.

The 6-foot-9 Fury is 3 inches taller than Klitschko.

“I have worked hard everyday for this moment-it’s a dream come true”. The fight was briefly delayed after Fury’s camp discovered that Klitschko had had his fists taped without an observer being present, which violates boxing rules.
