Tyson Fury stripped of IBF title, under investigation for ‘hate crime’
However, his triumph in the ring has been widely praised, with the Briton becoming the first man to beat Klitschko in over 10 years and claim his IBF, WBA and WBO world titles.

Former world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis has fired back in his war of words with Tyson Fury and John Fury.
The BBC reported late Tuesday that the International Boxing Federation has stripped Fury of his title less than two weeks after winning it, quoting Lindsey Tucker, championships chairman at the IBF, as saying “It’s true he’s been stripped of his IBF belt”.
Before the Klitschko fight, Fury also ranted about abortion, and said doping should be legalized in all sports to make it “fully fair”.
Fury has come under fire this week after he said: “There are only three things that need to be accomplished before the devil comes home”.
“One of them is homosexuality being legal in countries, one of them is abortion and the other is paedophilia”, he said.
He holds the WBO, WBA and IBO titles but the heavyweight division is now fractured with Deontay Wilder the WBC champion.
Fury was obligated to agree to a fight with the IBF’s mandatory challenger, Vyacheslav Glazkov, but instead has opted to fight Klitschko in a rematch.
Meanwhile, Fury, who is the subject of a petition to be taken of the shortlist for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year (SPOTY) awards, is at the centre of a controversy over his comments about women and gay people.
Confirming the news, a Greater Manchester Police (GMP) spokeswoman said that the force was taking the matter seriously and revealed that the boxer would be questioned in person before further investigation. “This can not be right”.
Fury’s trainer and uncle Peter Fury believes his nephew should not be removed from the award nominations but should apologise for airing his controversial views.

The boxer wrote: “Hopefully I don’t win @BBCSPOTY as I’m not the best roll model in the world for the kids, give it to someone who would appreciate it [prayer emojis]”. “If it’s coming out exactly like that, that paedophilia is the same as homosexuality, there there needs to be some sort of redress”. The sanctioning body wanted Fury to fight its mandatory challenger, Vyacheslav Glazkov of Ukraine, but he will instead have a rematch with Klitschko, also from Ukraine.
