Tyson Fury: Wladimir Klitschko may have let me win (Audio)

“Tonight wasn’t his night, and it was my night, “Fury said during the post-fight press conference”. Fury, against all odds, had just usurped the heavyweight king’s crown, and was now serenading the crowd with his booming (and off-pitch) voice in celebration. He landed more punches and bounced around the ring, while the 39-year-old Klitschko looked befuddled and lethargic.

Klitschko imperiously ruled the division for 11 years, taking on all-comers and dispatching them with technical efficiency and ease, but was sometimes, unfairly, derided for being boring.

His father, who was a gypsy bare-knuckle fighter in the 1980s, named him Tyson after world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.

“It’s something I’ve been working on for my whole life”, Fury said.

When asked about a potential unification fight with WBC Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, Fury shrugged it off as his next move.

In a fight where Klitschko was expected to control the bout and grind down his opponent, Fury reversed the tables by fighting smart, using unorthodox moves.

Wladimir Klitschko has insisted that he wants a rematch after losing his world heavyweight championship title to Tyson Fury.

He then burst into a rendition of Aerosmith’s hit ballad I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing, dedicating it to wife Paris and his fans in Ireland, the UK, the United States and Germany.

“I must admit that Tyson Fury was faster and better”, Klitschko, whose record now stands at 64 wins and four defeats, told German broadcaster RTL. I vacated the British and Commonwealth titles, which some people say are more prestigious than the Irish title, but not to me.

“I’ve just taken him out, so why would I be bothered about a novice basketball player, who just came to boxing a couple of years ago?”

“[I had] three world title eliminators so I earned my right to fight”.

“We’ll soon work out when and where the rematch will take place and let you know”, he added. It takes you to another level and I don’t think he is going to fancy it, I really don’t.

“Who knows what the rematch holds”, Fury said. “This was his first big test. Now he has come through that test, you will see more of his boxing ability”, he said.

“I didn’t put the punches in and could not find the right key to open up the fight”. “And, in my opinion, Tyson Fury will definitely knock him out next time”.
