U of M: Arrest Made in Incident That Shut Down Coffman Union
University of Minnesota police have arrested a suspect they believe is responsible for the incident that shut down Coffman Memorial Union Monday.

The Minneapolis fire chief says the suspicious package, later identified as a tent bag, was X-rayed and showed no safety concerns.
College authorities declared Monday evening that the union would stay shut for the day however would open at 7 a.m. Tuesday. Police also used dogs to sweep the building. The University will release more information once officers are finished canvassing the building, he said.

Students and staff were told not to enter the building as security searched the premises. Officials didn’t provide an estimate of when the building would reopen. However, traffic and the nearby Green Line are operating as normal, the Star Tribune says.
