The agency said Friday that it’s working with Samsung on an official recall of the phones “as soon as possible” and that it’s trying to figure out if the company’s replacement Note 7s are an “acceptable remedy”.
Pakistan International Airlines on Sunday strongly urged its passengers not to carry the newly-launched Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone during flights following recent reports of explosions from faulty batteries.
“Garuda Indonesia asks all passengers not to operate mobile phone during flight due to the advisory from the FAA on the use of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phone”, he said in a statement.
US and Japanese aviation authorities have urged passengers not to turn on or charge the large-screen phones on aircraft, while the US Federal Aviation Administration has told passengers not to stow the device in checked baggage.
