U.S. calls for reducing rhetoric and violence in Kashmir
Black Day: Pakistan Defence Minister blames PM Modi for violence in Kashmir Valley: On Friday, Khawaja Mohammed Asif who is Defence Minister of Pakistan put the blame directly on PM Modi’s shoulder for violence in the Kashmir valley.

The Pakistan announce ment about observing a Black Day was made at a special meeting of the federal cabinet chaired by Nawaz Sharif at Governor House in Lahore.
“India completely and unequivocally rejects in entirety the decisions adopted by the Cabinet of Pakistan on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir”.
India also asked Pakistan to desist from further interfering in its internal affairs and destabilising the situation in south Asia through support to terrorism and other subversive acts. Continued glorification of terrorists belonging to proscribed terrorist organisations makes it clear where Pakistan’s sympathies continue to lie.
“Pakistan hoped for continued support of the OIC towards the just struggle of the Kashmiris for their right of self-determination”, the letter stated.
Meanwhile, the Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari condemned Pakistan’s blatant attempt to internationalize the very sensitive situation in Jammu & Kashmir in which it has been an agent provocateur for over two and half decades.
The latest unrest has heightened tension between the nuclear-armed rivals, with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif calling on his nation to observe a “black day” on July 19 in solidarity with the people of Kashmir. “Pakistan will also play its role in awakening the conscience of the worldwide community in this regard”, Sharif vowed.
Meanwhile, Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, has written a letter to global organisations and leaders, asking them to take notice of the unrest in divided Kashmir.
Several leading newspapers in Indian-administered Kashmir say they have been have been raided by police seeking to end a week of violent protests.
Thousands of people rallied in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (Pok) on Friday to protest the deadly clashes between the people and Indian security forces in Kashmir.
In a statement released by Sharif’s office, the prime minister said a joint meeting of the National Assembly and the Senate will be convened to discuss Kashmir.
Elizabeth Trudeau said the USA would not support any call for increasing tension in the region.

People chanted slogan against India and its security forces, while demanding United Nations intervention to organise a plebiscite in the state.
