U.S. continues gold streak, leads medal count in Rio
The gold medal bout is at 5:45 p.m. and comes a day after Russian Yana Egorian defeated countrywoman Sofya Velikaya for the gold in women’s sabre. India have never won multiple gold medals in any Olympic games and may want to create a new piece of history.

After her victory in what was being considered as one of the most anticipated races in the competition, King said, “I hope I (made a statement) – that we can still compete clean and do well at the Olympic Games and that’s how it should be”.
“Being able to win it and stand on the podium and hear my nation’s anthem was a very pride-instilling moment for me”.
Ginny Thrasher: The 19-year-old pulled off an upset in the 10-meter air rifle event Saturday to win the United States’ first gold medal.
“Since getting to West Virginia, I’ve blossomed so much”, she said.
Li won gold medals in air rifle in 2004 at the Athens Games and in 3-position rifle in Beijing four years later.
“Thrasher finished with a final score of 208, a full point ahead of Li”.
She followed that with a 10.4. At age 19, Thrasher became the third-youngest United States of America women’s shooting medalist, the third United States of America shooter to win the women’s 10-meter air rifle and the first since Nancy Napolski-Johnson won in 2000.
“Being there has really helped me grow not only in my physical abilities, but also my mental capacity for shooting, helping me be a good teammate and have better time management”.
“Of course, outside distracting thoughts about medals and other outcomes were coming into my head”. Her first shot killed a deer, and this has kept her going ever since as she continually hit the mark, wherever she has gone.
China won yet another medal in air rifle on a day nasty winds sent the clay targets in the trap event bobbing and bouncing through the air, forced delays on the tennis courts and whipped up treacherous waves in the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. She continued, “I knew it was a realistic expectation for me to get into the finals and once you get into the finals, anything can happen”.
“I have a great community around me”.
“People see the 3 percent of your performance in the spotlight”, she said.
But Morgan wasn’t alone in firing off trigger-happy tweets nonsensically linking an Olympic gold in air rifle shooting to the gun control debate.
Michael Phelps’ signature event has become the individual medley and he’s taken home gold in each of his three appearances in 200m at the Olympics.
“I think that the exterior of your life changes, but who I am doesn’t change, no matter what medals I win or how many medals I win”, she said.

“I mean it’s not an Olympic sport for nothing!” the teenager joked.
