Buratai said in the statement that he was there to see things for himself, assess the situation and give necessary directives.

A top Niger official on Friday accused Boko Haram jihadists from neighbouring Nigeria of waging a “scorched-earth” offensive on the country’s southeast following a series of bloody cross-border raids.

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria also said that a second attacker was arrested before he could detonate his bomb.

Usman identified the 11-year-old detainee as a resident of Bama, a town 45 miles (72 kilometers) northeast of Maiduguri, but did not say if he had been abducted or indoctrinated.

The Cameroonian army says troops have dealt a major blow to Nigeria’s so called Islamists group, Boko Haram, killing at least 100 fighters in a three-day operation. Zakzaky said the assailants in the procession attack belonged to the same group as those who have committed previous attacks on the Shiite movement, including an incident at a pro-Palestinian march in Zaria in July 2014, when 34 people were killed reportedly by military personnel.

“This brought about an unprecedented influx of IDPs to the camp which the terrorists took advantage and infiltrate in order to wreck more havoc among the society”.

Beside the arrest of Sadiq, Colonel US man said four other suspected Boko Haram members were nabbed in villages around southern Borno. Usman said this highlights the need for proper screening of refugees.

“The boy also pointed out one other Boko Haram senior member, Alhaji Kerewu Abubakar at the camp”, Usman said. The 11-year-old boy is shown in the bottom right-hand corner of the poster, a cap covering his head, his arms raised in prayer.
