U.S. general: North Korea ‘will’ develop nuclear capabilities to hit America

The UN and others view the North’s space launch project as a cover for missile tests, as rockets and ballistic missiles in satellite launches share similar bodies, engines, and other technology.

Earlier this month, North Korea conducted its fifth nuclear test, prompting South Korean and USA officials to vow to apply more sanctions and pressure on the North.

As if North Korea’s recent nuclear test was not bold enough, the regime now claims to have carried out a successful ground test of a new rocket engine.

A Wall Street Journal report on Monday said both China and the USA are also now targeting the finances of Liaoning Hongxiang Industrial, the Chinese conglomerate that the Obama leadership believes plays a role in North Korea’s nuclear program.

The US and its allies are now discussing more sanctions against North Korea at the UN.

While North Korea is interested in launching geostationary satellites, South Korean military spokesman Jeon Ha-gyu said North Korea was likely testing essential technology for a long-range missile, Reuters reports.

This includes shipping to North Korea so-called “dual-use” goods, such as aluminum oxide, which can have both civilian and nuclear-weapons development uses.

The ministry has been seeking to expand the coverage area of its Patriot antimissile systems to better defend against North Korea. “This time, the USA might ask China to compromise on this point”, Zhang Liangui, a professor on Korean Peninsula issues at the Party School of the CPC Central Committee, told the Global Times.

“I think all members of the U.N. have to ask themselves whether North Korea is really qualified as a member of the U.N.”, Yun said in an interview late Tuesday said on the sidelines of the annual gathering of world leaders at its headquarters in NY.

“North Korea started to build nuclear facilities in the 1960s, and after the collapse of the Soviet Union, it was able to collect nuclear materials and recruit experts from post-Soviet states”.

North Korea has been hit by five sets of United Nations sanctions since it first tested a nuclear device in 2006, but has insisted it will continue, come what may. “The sanctions are not an effective solution”, said Lü.

North Korea has said it needs nuclear weapons and missiles to cope with US military threats.

Iran says it has no current military ties with North Korea.

“I think that Russia’s the most risky threat, China’s a close second, but the most likely threats and the most concerning are North Korea and then Iran, because North Korea is very unpredictable”, General John E Hayten said in his confirmation hearing to be the Commander of the Strategic Command.

Working backwards from the United Nations list of blacklisted individuals and entities, the researchers uncovered unsanctioned Chinese private corporations, like the Liaoning Hongxiang Group, acting as shell companies or facilitators for sanctioned North Korean state enterprises.
