U.S. lands bomber in South Korea
“In the wake of this latest provocation from Pyongyang, we ask you to take immediate steps to expand USA sanctions against North Korea and those entities that assist the regime, most importantly China-based entities; expedite the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system in South Korea; and take all feasible steps to facilitate a stronger trilateral alliance between the United States, Japan, and South Korea to more effectively counter the North Korean threat”, the legislators said in a letter.

“What we are showing today is just one tool we have to choose from a wide array of options”, Bergeson added.
But every year, USA troops team up with South Korean counterparts to conduct war games that, while always termed defensive in nature, have recently begun including training for precision strikes, or more colorfully, “decapitation” strikes on Kim Jong Un, along with scenarios for invading or destroying the capital.
It is a crucial time for China as well, and China’s influence over North Korea is fading, as North Korea has already conducted many nuclear tests despite China’s opposition, said Zhang.
“Should the enemy provoke us once again, the Combined Air Forces will respond and eliminate their will and capability to fight”, Lee Wang-kuen was quoted as saying. Two US strategic bombers on Wednesday 21 flew over South Korea and one of them made a rare landing in the country in a fresh show of force against North Korea. The four-engine supersonic bomber can fly very low and faster while carrying a large payload of both guided and unguided weapons.
The Yonhap News Agency reported that the two B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers are anticipated to arrive at Osan Air Base in PyeongTaek this week.
One hopeful sign was an announcement by the Foreign Ministry in Seoul last week that China had agreed with South Korea to seek new and tougher United Nations sanctions on North Korea.
The B-1B does not now carry nuclear weapons, and some do not consider it nuclear capable in its current configuration.
According to Euan Graham, director of the International Security Program at the Lowy Institute in Sydney, the most noteworthy aspect of the flights was not the nearness to the North Korean border, but rather than a nonnuclear jet is now being tasked with the role of nuclear reassurance.

In military alliance with the USA forces, Seoul also has the Kill Chain system by which it will pre-emptively hit missile-related facilities following signs of imminent missile attacks from the North.
The move comes a day after North Korea claimed it had successfully tested a new, high-powered rocket engine that the South said was created to demonstrate progress towards attaining a long-range missile.
North Korea has been testing nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles at an unprecedented rate this year, beginning with its fourth nuclear test in January and including the launch of a satellite in February that was widely seen as a test of long-range ballistic missile technology.
The South’s military is on high alert amid speculation the North could launch a long-range missile or carry out a sixth nuclear test to mark the 68th anniversary of the Worker’s Party of Korea being founded on October 10.
In terms of lost trade opportunities, sanctions and diplomatic isolation, North Korea’s pursuit of a viable nuclear arsenal is a costly endeavor.
The Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture-based USS Ronald Reagan was reportedly scheduled to participate in a joint naval exercise with the South Korean military from October 10 to 15.
