“It’s a spirit our band knows well and will try to serve when we return for the postponed shows”.

The concert scheduled for Monday, December 7 will be filmed live and broadcast on HBO that evening at 9 p.m. eastern.

In Dublin, where the band are tonight opening a four-night hometown run, Bono added: “We’re going to put on our best for Paris”.

U2 said returning to Paris was about honouring a commitment to fans.

The concert will be shot live at the Accorhotels Arena in Bercy and air on HBO the same day. The band resumed its iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour at the SSE Arena in Belfast, and after kicking off a three-song encore, the band played its 2006 track City of Blinding Lights, as a black and white graphic of the Eiffel Tower appeared on the arena’s big screen.

Nearly 90 music fans were slaughtered by armed terrorists who stormed the Bataclan theatre during an Eagles of Death Metal concert on 13 November (15).

Speaking in Paris on Monday after meeting French President Francois Hollande, Cameron said the two leaders agreed to increase counterterrorism cooperation after the attacks.
