Uber says the feature is one of the top-requested from riders, especially business travelers. “When you’ve got somewhere to be at a very specific time, it’s nice to have extra assurance that a ride will be available when you need it”, the release states.
Another option is opening up with scheduled rides on Uber, which the company is rolling out in Atlanta over the next few weeks. Eligible users will notice the “Schedule a Ride” button when opening the app.
Business Profile and Uber for Business users in New Jersey will have priority access, along with riders who signed up to be the first to try it out in their city.
Scheduled Rides will become available to all riders in New Jersey in the coming weeks, Uber officials said.
“We wanted to launch it in the biggest, densest cities in CT to make sure it works”, Powers said.
Scheduled Rides debuted in Seattle in June.

The company’s primary competitor, Lyft, is testing a similar service in San Francisco, but it hasn’t yet arrived in Charleston. There are hundreds of thousands of Uber users and thousands of Uber drivers in the state, according to Powers.
