Some Uber and Lyft riders have been using the car-pooling option in the respective apps as a way to meet or hook up with others.

It’s largely common sense: Don’t flirt with people who don’t want to be flirted with.

But Uber may be more concerned about passengers receiving unwanted attention from drivers.

On Thursday, the rideshare company rolled out new community guidelines for both drivers and riders, one of which stands out from the rest: No flirting.

Physical contact with the driver or fellow riders.

Abusive language or gestures could leave you looking for a taxi.

“As a passenger, if you need to make a phone call, keep your voice down to avoid disturbing your driver or other riders”. But then again, why use an Uber when you have a 4×4 for the job?

After years of vague guidelines, ride-sharing service Uber has finally released a hard and fast list of behaviors that will get a rider banned forever.

Uber says they’ll investigate any allegations that you broke one of the above rules first, but it can and will revoke your access to Uber.

The guidelines state: ‘Uber has a no sex rule. If a party goer finds himself plastered, it’s obviously best to hail a ride home rather than get behind the wheel drunk.

In addition to these, passengers and drivers are prohibited from carrying firearms in the vehicle, discriminating on the basis of race, religion, national origin, disability, gender, age or sexual orientation.

In a blog post, Rachel Holt, Uber regional manager for the U.S. and Canada, explains that the company is revising its rules – and for the first time clarifying the criteria for banning passengers – because “we want everyone to enjoy the ride”. That could include bringing open containers of alcohol or drugs, asking a driver to break the speed limit, and using Uber to commit a crime like human trafficking. You’re also barred from touching or flirting with anyone in the auto. Here’s how you can up your rating – according to Uber drivers. While Uber maintains a hands-off stance on many of these issues insisting the company is only a “middleman”, it has taken a step to make the new cab experience more pleasant for everyone.

What’s more, the definition of flirt is too broad to enforce a total ban.
