Ubisoft’s “The Division” crosses $330M in new record

Those wanting to keep an eye out on updates about the maintenance, including whether there will be any delays in the game coming back online, can follow the updates in this thread on the Ubisoft forums for The Division. Last week, the publisher announced that the game had sold more copies in its first 24 hours than any other Ubisoft title.

This number means The Division not only is Ubisoft’s best selling game in an opening week, but also the entire gaming industry’s best selling first installment in a new franchise during that time frame.

The company also says it had 1.2m peak concurrent users over the weekend, and other stats it proudly touts includes over 100m hours of gameplay on its servers and 57m YouTube video views during week one. “We are very proud of our teams, and humbled by and thankful for the millions of players who are giving us their feedback and support”, said Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer and co-founder of Ubisoft, in the blog post.

Survival is coming in the fall, with a new game mode, with the first two paid drops offered with a 30-day exclusivity deal for those playing on the Xbox One from Microsoft. Since The Division requires an always-online connection needed to play, the shooter will not be playable at the above mentioned time – even if you only want to play it alone. Speaking during a community live stream, Ubisoft Massive community developer Hamish Bode said Ubisoft is aware of player’s concerns and will fix them in the future. The studio shared its plans for the first year of content just prior to launch.

It is expected that a few changes and updates would be added during maintenance, fixing the recent glitches and bugs players encountered in the game. “Underground” comes first and takes place in New York City’s maze of tunnels and subways, as the name suggests. Finally, “Last Stand” will be out during the winter, and there is little detail beyond that.
