Faisal Mohammad had no previous run-ins with police and no clues in his past behavior to suggest that the freshman at University of California, Merced, would try to execute an elaborate plan to kill his classmates as revenge for being kicked out of the group, the Merced County Sheriff’s Department said. Classes at the campus northeast of Merced were canceled Thursday.
“The threat of a mass shooter on campus on Monday [at Fresno State] and then a knifing on Wednesday at Merced, it’s kind of disheartening more than anything else, that these places can’t be safer than that”, Eissinger said.

Warnke said Mohammad’s plan was written in English and referenced the Muslim god Allah several times. Warnke said the worker’s actions probably saved the life of the first victim.
The incident began Wednesday morning in a class and office building.
“The reason for these projected activities, and I want to make this very clear, he had gotten kicked out of a study group and was upset with one of the students and apparently took his anger to the extreme level”, said Vern Warnkle.
