UCF football has agreed to a home-and-home series with North Carolina, the schools announced Wednesday.
UCF’s only other now scheduled out of conference game for 2018 is with Florida Atlantic University, so some gaps remain to be filled in the near term.
This season, UCF will play a few new Big Ten nonconference opponents in Michigan (Sept. 10) and Maryland (Sept. 17).
UCF hosts Maryland this fall and has future home nonconference games with Georgia Tech and FIU in 2017, Florida Atlantic in 2018 and Stanford in 2019.
The first meeting completes UNC’s scheduling requirements for the 2018 campaign. UNC is slated to open the 2018 season at California on September 1, visit East Carolina on September 8, and later host Western Carolina on November 17.
North Carolina, a member of the ACC, and UCF, a member of the American Athletic Conference, have never met on the football field. UCF has historically struggled to schedule home games with Power Five programs, a fact often lamented by prior head coach George O’Leary.
