UCLA softball fails to advance past first day of college world series
UCLA senior third baseman Mysha Sataraka blasted a first-inning grand slam to right field Saturday at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium and the Florida State dugout went silent. UCLA would see a good part of their lineup get hits against Florida State, but they lost 8-4 and their season came to an end on Saturday. They were outscored by their two opponents 18-7, ending their 40-16-1 season without a win in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

It is only the third time that the Florida State Seminoles have racked up two wins at a College World Series tournament.
Powers finished 4-for-4 with a double, home run, RBI and two runs scored.
A double from Powers and a single from Broderick put runners on the corners for Harrod with nobody out.
It was the the first time in the Bruins’ 26 World Series appearances that they were eliminated after two games. Powers came home on a successful squeeze by Cali Harrod, and during Harrod’s rundown, Broderick scored for a 5-4 Seminole lead. She retired 13 batters in a row from the second inning until a one-out single in the sixth by Brianna Tautalafua.
The Noles brought in another run in the seventh inning behind a leadoff walk from Gordon. The Seminoles took an 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Tigers, the home team, answered in the bottom of inning. Harrod reached base on a walk, stole second and advanced to third on Auburn catcher Carlee Wallace’s throwing error.
Burroughs closed out the game in the circle, tossing a ideal seventh inning. “I just think the way that we went about the season, there was so many opportunities for us to fall and just give up kind of and I don’t think we ever did and that’s how we ended back here when a lot of people doubted us”. “I knew I just had to throw a strike, and I knew my defense would be there, and when the ball came to me, I was just focused on making a good throw over to first”. Florida State struck in the fifth, adding another pair of runs to its lead off of a walk and two hits. I was rooting for her, but I wasn’t at the same time.
The Seminoles will face the loser of the MI and Oklahoma game tomorrow at 12:00 CT.

The Seminoles continue play in the 2016 Women’s College World Series against the loser of Oklahoma/Michigan on Sunday, June 5 at 1:00 p.m. ET, in a game that will be shown on ESPN. “The energy, we never gave up, and I think it was huge”.
