After Ramesh Chennithala took over as the Opposition Leader, this is the first meet of the UDF being convened under his leadership.

Mani and his party are of the stand that the former was trapped by senior leaders of the congress in the bar case. “The decisions taken by the last cabinet meetings of the Congress-led government became crucial in the election”. All UDF legislators will participate in the dharna from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. Addressing a press conference here, UDF convener P.P. Thankachan said that the dharna would be a token stir warning the government against its anti-people policies.
Differences between Kerala Congress (M) and Congress, which is heading the UDF, over the bar bribery scam seemingly came to the fore on Monday with KC (M) “boycotting” the Front leaders’ meeting here.
Meanwhile, Chennithala downplayed the entire episode, saying “there are no big issues in UDF”.
“Mani will attend next UDF meeting”, Chandy told reporters in response to a query.
Biju Ramesh, working President of Kerala State Bar Hotel Owners Association, had levelled the bar bribery charge against Mani, which finally led to his resignation in November previous year.

Significantly, the KC (M) mouthpiece had recently come out with two articles accusing Congress behind the scam. Biju’s allegations were instumental in the bar licence issue turning int o a controversy, which eventually resulted in the resignation of KC (B) chief K M Mani as finance minister.
