Udrih returning to Miami Heat, agrees to 1-year deal
The Heat have re-signed veteran guard Beno Udrih. Despite the injury, it is likely that Udrih could have found more money and playing time elsewhere.

The Miami Heat have agreed to a new contract with Beno Udrih, according to a report from Yahoo.
The team has the capacity to sign one more player to make it 20 for the off-season, but Miami has to eventually cut down to only 15 before the season starts.
His contract was subsequently bought out after the injury as the Heat maneuvered to get under the luxury-tax threshold.
Udrih has appeared in 792 National Basketball Association regular season games (272 starts) during his 12-year career and has averaged 8.5 points, 3.4 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 22.3 minutes while shooting 46.3 percent from the floor, 34.9 percent from three-point range and 83 percent from the foul line.
The signing of Udrih brings Miami’s roster total to 19 players. Coach Erik Spoelstra made no assurances about playing time but has asked Udrih to provide veteran leadership.
Despite having his best days behind him, Udrih should still play a good role in the Heat, giving young players some advice and being the locker room leader given his veteran experience. However, when Joe Johnson became a free agent following his release from the Brooklyn Nets, the Heat pounced.
At the moment, the Heat’s signed players are Udrih, Chris Bosh, Hassan Whiteside, Goran Dragic, Udonis Haslem, Tyler Johnson, Derrick Williams, Wayne Ellington, Justise Winslow, James Johnson, Josh McRoberts, Josh Richardson, Dion Waiters, Willie Reed, Okaro White, Briante Weber, Luke Babbitt, Stefan Jankovic, and Rodney McGruder.

Johnson said the Heat has emphasized improving as a point guard during his offseason workouts.
