“Financial distribution to clubs will be increased significantly for both competitions”, UEFA said in the statement, also referring to the second-tier Europa League. UEFA announced the huge change to the tournament structure on Friday, having agreed to a new format that will run for at least three years.
“I am particularly pleased with the fact the European football community remains united moving forward”, he said.
Representatives from the clubs had met in London with Relevent Sports, organisers of the pre-season friendly competition the International Champions Cup, which it was said the talks were primarily about. “It is a very hard competition to win – for everybody – and you need luck along the way, but we are ready and always trying to improve”. “We spoke to everyone. the feeling we had was that they always wanted to stay”. “Better like this. Bring it on”.
The Blues were drawn alongside Barcelona, Borussia Monchengladbach and Celtic in Group C of this season’s competition.
“We now have an appealing group”.
“It’s hard but attractive”.
In 2013/14, Napoli became the first – and so far only – team to fail to progress after picking up 12 points, losing out to Dortmund and Arsenal in a three-way head-to-head.
“It will be a very hard group, we have to be careful”, said Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti, in his first season in Germany after replacing Guardiola.
The draw was an exciting occasion for Leicester following their remarkable triumph last season. “This group won’t be easy”.
Arsenal drew the toughest opponent in Paris Saint-Germain, but it finally avoided a group with a Bundesliga club for the first time since 2010.
“What we can say now is that, after lobbying hard for the retention of the Champions route for Champions League qualification, the SPFL is therefore pleased that the Champions route has been protected as part of these changes”.
“Both games against Borussia Monchengladbach were tough past year, even though we won them both”.
“I saw some quotes from the last time Lionel Messi was over here, he talked about it being the best atmosphere he had ever played in”.
“Last season was wonderful but I want more”. North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are set to face CSKA Moscow, Bayer Leverkusen and Monaco in Group E.
