UEFA Members Gather to Hear FIFA Candidate Infantino
UEFA’s acting boss Gianni Infantino was set to face the media on Friday after a meeting of Europe’s top football brass, as he gears up his campaign to become FIFA’s president.

Others have yet to decide, including England’s Football Association.
“If the target of 50% of distribution of FIFA’s income is reached, these amounts will further increase significantly”, Infantino said.
Platini had been a long-time opponent of technology but he allowed UEFA officials to review its use for Euro 2016 in his native France before his ban. Please see our terms of service for more information.
Meanwhile, UEFA will not hold an election to replace Michel Platini as its president until the appeals process against the Frenchman’s eight-year ban has been exhausted. The decision did not commit UEFA to choosing a goal-line technology (GLT) provider.
The technology, also used at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, has practically ceased the debate on whether a ball has crossed the goal-line. The German company and Britain’s Hawk-Eye system are widely used in European leagues.
The system will be used alongside additional assistant referees who will continue to monitor all activity in and around the penalty area.
Infantino will go up against Asian Football Confederation President Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim al Khalifa of Bahrain, Jordanian FA chief Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, Frenchman Jérôme Champagne and South African businessman Tokyo Sexwale for the FIFA Presidency at the Extraordinary ECongress, due to take place on February 26 in Zurich. Infantino, 45, has not weighed in on fears of electoral malpractice, but he has released a manifesto detailing measures to clean up the global game.

In an attempt to entice federations, Infantino is also offering them a greater share of FIFA’s wealth, saying a “proper risk analysis must be conducted” into whether the governing body requires cash reserves as high as US$1.5 billion.
