The fight was originally scheduled at UFC 189 in July before but Aldo withdrew with a rib injury. Then Aldo lunged forward, swinging his right hand.

But come fight week, the normally brash-mouthed Irishman became uncharacteristically quiet, only doing handful of interview while keeping his cool. Aldo fell to the mat and after a couple of McGregor hammer punches, the fight was suddenly over as quickly as it began.
McGregor defeated Aldo in just 13 seconds after Aldo rushed in with a left hook to McGregor’s face.
With the Irish crowd going berserk around him, the new champion leapt onto the cage to celebrate with his county.
“Ireland, Baby, we did it!”. It would have been nice if the contest had have stretched out a bit longer, just for all that it has been through, but I still feel the same process would have happened.
“Nobody can take that left hand shot”.
It was Aldo’s first loss since 2005 and speaking in the octagon after the fight he said: “I think that we need the rematch, it was really not a fight so we need to get back in here”.
McGregor also expressed a lot of gratitude in the statement.
‘At 27 years of age I stand here as the unified world champion with back-to-back gate records at the MGM. “The trash talking didn’t affect me, I don’t care what he says”, Aldo said. “I will be back”.
The UFC president reflected on a record-breaking night for the company at UFC 194, and was asked for his immediate reaction to McGregor’s lightning finish.
McGregor had predicted he would knock Aldo out inside the first round, and while many people doubted him he was true to his word and ended the fight in style. “I’ve taken my game to a new level”, said Rockhold, who trains with current light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and ex-heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez in San Jose.
Aldo had endured a year of taunts and teasing from McGregor who pushed every one of the 29-year-old’s buttons in a bid to weaken him mentally.

According to the Mirror, McGregor is claiming the UFC 194 fight went nearly exactly as he predicted it would happen. “The belts will still be active because I am active”. “There’ll be a belt on one shoulder and a belt on the other shoulder. There will be a belt on both arms”.
