UFC 196: McGregor vs. Diaz Results

That’s what he done.

This makes for an intriguing weigh-in Friday, one day ahead of UFC 196 (7 p.m., PPV) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. That wasn’t the initial plan.

Prior to Thursday’s press conference, McGregor and Diaz had some heated exchanges, as Diaz accused McGregor, and everyone else in the UFC, of steroid use, which really offended the current UFC featherweight champion.

The potential for this type of volatility was expected once this welterweight bout was agreed upon February 23, necessitated by lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos withdrawing from his superfight with McGregor because of an injured foot.

McGregor was then told that the fight would likely generate more than $1 billion, twice what McGregor predicted the fight would bring in previous year.

Diaz weighed in at 156 pounds and 160.6 pounds for his last two fights, and Saturday’s fight will have a 170-pound weight limit.

“He shouldn’t have said anything”, McGregor said. “C’mon. I don’t know what to say to this guy”. Trying to call me out, trying to do this and that.

“I respect [Lawler] as a champion, as a man who drifted off, came back, stayed on it and rose up and became the welterweight champion”. Real people fight. Real people fight. Don’t sleep on Nate Diaz on Saturday night. McGregor is 7-0 in the UFC and has taken his game to a new level everytime he has needed to.

“You’re a rich kid”, said Diaz. So, it’s unlikely that McGregor will be hit with a fine for slapping Diaz’s hand away. He doubled down on that Wednesday, saying he hopes Diaz can last longer so McGregor can showcase some more of his skills. “I’ve stood beside him, I’ve seen him”. After shadowboxing his way around the stage, the Stockton native took the mats and showed off some impressive Jui Jitsu and grappling skills. However, Tate believes Holm has a weakness she could exploit come fight night.
