UFC 202: Conor McGregor defeats Nate Diaz by majority decision

Nate Diaz echoed Conor McGregor’s statements regarding Alvarez and also eliminated Woodley as a potential next opponent.

Prior to last month’s historic UFC 200 event, McGregor held the record for the largest guaranteed fight purse paid to a fighter in the UFC with a $1 million payday reported to the Nevada Athletic Commission for his first fight with Nate Diaz at UFC 196 back in March.

Diaz and McGregor should probably face off at 155 instead of 170 but welterweight it’ll be.

Other diehard UFC fans have posted their tips for how McGregor should tackle Nate by pacing himself throughout the bout. The odds favor the fight ending before the conclusion of the third round.

Yet even though there is heat there, Diaz said a fight with Alvarez – or against any champion, like Woodley – isn’t all that appealing to him at the moment.

MMAjunkie has a report on the disclosed payouts for Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz at UFC 202. They’re novices where I come from and that’s the truth of it, so we’ll see about him. While McGregor may do well on the feet early, he isn’t likely to KO Diaz, who has only been stopped by strikes once in his career.

“And then I think it’s the night before that we have the lightweight fight between Dos Anjos and Eddie Alvarez and that’s a very interesting prospect”.

McGregor seemed unstoppable prior to UFC 196, as he hadn’t lost since 2010 and was coming off a 13-second KO of Jose Aldo. He dumped Diaz once in the first and twice in the second, and by the time the first round was half over, Diaz’s right eye was swelling badly. And then this is obviously a welterweight fight and Robbie Lawler is defending his belt at UFC 201. With a revenge narrative running alongside UFC 202, the main event has become one of the most anticipated fights of the year.
