UFC 202: Diaz vs McGregor 2 reportedly breaks PPV record
According to a new report from MMA Fighting.com, sources have informed the outlet that it’s now estimated UFC 202 sold 1.65 million pay-per-view buys.

Indeed, pay-per-view buys via the internet are also said to have broken all previous records held by the UFC.
MMAfighting.com are reporting that informed sources are claiming that the DirecTV numbers are the biggest in the UFC’s 23-year history, and the showcase is on course to be the most moneyed non-boxing event the medium has ever seen. MMA Fighting reports that the Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz-headlined card is now estimated to have done 1.65 million buys, which is about 50,000 above the current record-breaker in UFC 196.
In a gruelling five-round welterweight contest, McGregor defeated Diaz via majority decision at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and avenged the loss he suffered at the Californian’s hands at UFC 196 in March. Prior to 194, the biggest UFC event of all-time was Lesnar-Mir 2 at UFC 100. Conor McGregor mentioned before the fight that it might be tough for some Irishmen to make it to the fight since they’ve been coming over for just about every one of his bouts in the UFC. Days before 202, ticket prices dropped drastically. Some might think that fighters throwing water bottles at each other isn’t a good look but it definitely brought more eyes to the fight. Add in a healthy dose of Nate Diaz and the UFC appears to have found PPV magic. The 1.65 million figure does not include purchases through the UFC for streaming, however.

This is really just great news all around for the UFC. And it also edges out the biggest UFC PPV ever.
