UFC 202: McGregor avenges defeat against Diaz at UFC 202
Mixed martial arts superstar Conor McGregor has secured a thrilling victory over Nate Diaz in their rematch at UFC 202 in Las Vegas.

McGregor claimed a majority decision victory over Diaz after a thrilling five-round epic that has been hailed as the greatest fight in UFC history, and avenged his defeat by Diaz at UFC 196 in March this year. When asked about the future of this rivalry, McGregor said that he is ready to fight Diaz again but the next time, he wants the fight to take place in the lightweight (70 kg) category.
In the weeks leading up to their rematch, McGregor said that he believed his feud with Diaz would become a trilogy. I’m letting you know, if we ain’t doing any of that, you already know who’s gonna win! The fight went to the ground for the only time in the closing moments when Diaz finally dragged McGregor down, but it was too late. “He brought out the best in me”, McGregor said. “So it kinda took from my whole game plan and made it like I was going in like ‘All right, let’s just get through this fight.’ So I think I was worse off on this fight than the first fight”.
The back and forth punch fest continued for what seemed like an eternity, exhausting both fighters. UFC gave him the rematch with Diaz at welterweight that he desperately wanted, even though the promotion urged him to go back down to 145 pounds.
Diaz found himself on the canvas midway through the first round and was subjected to a number of grueling leg kicks by his opponent.
But Diaz started to regain momentum, and he was the one who started connecting on successful combinations, which started to knock McGregor off his game. Johnson (22-5) flattened Teixeira (25-5) with the shot, forcing the referee to call an early end to the fight.
“I tell you what, fuck leg kicks, my leg is a bitch after”.
“We got a lot to talk about and I’m in a lovely, attractive position right no”. Come back to 155 [pounds].

One can not deny that McGregor was a better fighter this time around. McGregor and Diaz both alluded to it, and McGregor didn’t mention defending his featherweight title nor did he mention Floyd Mayweather Jr or anything like that.
