UFC 202 results and highlights: Hyun Gyu Lim vs. Mike Perry

Lim still narrowly avoiding being KO’d, but he’s taken a heck of a lot of punishment in a short space of time, and the ref rightly steps in to end the fight, giving Perry a huge TKO victory to mark his short notice UFC debut. Both welterweights were looking to shine on the platform they were given, and show that they have a bright future ahead in their fighting careers. Perry kept staying busy with kicks. Although the 24-year-old was born in Flint, he fights out of Orlando, Fla.

The two traded as the fight began and Lim, showing modest improvement, seemed poised and flashed a jab. The South Korean fighter was coming off a loss to Neil Magny at UFC Fight Night 66, but had won eight of his last nine fights before that. Perry followed up with unanswered punches, forcing referee John McCarthy to intervene in the fallen Lim’s behalf.

He starts landing punches from this hugely advantageous position as Lim tries to escape. Lim would be dropped twice more with hard hooks and straights.

Another leg kick for Perry and a left hand too.

In addition to his punches, Perry held sided control of Lim for 1:25.

Although his exciting style should have made him an instant fan favourite, he quickly turned heel with his act of disrespect towards the Lim at the UFC 202 weigh-ins.
