UFC champion Holly Holm’s next fight won’t be Ronda Rousey rematch
Holm was a significant underdog going into the fight but managed to completely dominate Rousey before scoring a second-round knockout with the help of a vicious head kick and punches. He announced Wednesday on Fox Sports 1’s “UFC Tonight” that Holm will fight someone else before she fights Rousey again. They are eyeing a fight in February, and while a specific opponent has yet to be named, it’s widely expected to be Miesha Tate, the No. 2 contender (behind Rousey). The UFC immediately expressed interest in a lucrative rematch between the two, probably at UFC 200 on July 9, but Holm, a former boxing world champion, expressed a desire to fight sooner. US soccer hero Carli Lloyd, UFC star Rousey and three-time victor Serena Williams were the top three vote-getters for The Associated Press 2015 Female Athlete of the Year award.

It appears that Ronda Rousey still hasn’t gotten over her shocking loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193, judging from the extremely depressing picture she posted to Instagram Monday. Sports. The announcement comes off a few days after “The Preacher’s Daughter” signed an eight-fight, multi-million-dollar extension with the UFC. “She’s taking some well-deserved time off. But you’ll see her fight again”. And seeing as she practically broke the Internet previous year when she featured in the issue, why not go with an encore? She lost in a stunning upset to current title holder Holly Holm on November 14. We understand there are risks, but Holly’s a dominant champion, and she wants to fight the best.
