UFC Fight Night results: Cyborg continues to display dominance with TKO

Lansberg takes on Cris “Cyborg” Justino in a catchweight bout at 140 pounds.

It doesn’t have a 140-pound weight class, either, but let’s not get off topic.

If Lansberg can pull off a huge upset and leave Brazil with the victory, it will launch her into the spotlight and then everyone will be playing matchmaker to decide who she will fight next. Now it’s time to talk about the fight itself. Don’t agree with these picks? I did not know Phillipe Nover, but I had the chance to watch some of his fights.

It’s pretty well documented by now that Justino is a shark swimming in a pond of 145-pound minnows. They reached a whole other level after she started training with Jason Parillo, a legendary MMA boxing coach who molded Michael Bisping from a tough-talking “Ultimate Fighter” victor into a UFC middleweight champion. Fighting in her native Brazil, Justino will take on UFC debutante Lina Lansberg, a 34-year-old muay thai fighter with a 6-1 record in MMA. “So, I took her down and showed my ground work”. Her nickname is “Elbow Princess”, and it’s hard to understate how much she loves throwing them ‘bows. She ended up weighing in at 141 pounds on Friday, which is within the range that was allowed in her contract. The answer might legitimately be “absolutely nowhere”. Cyborg has looked overwhelming in every bout she has had in the last decade.

When it was all said and done, Justino walked away with an easy second round TKO finish. Lansberg is a 135-pound fighter. She needs to cut 20 lbs.to be exact.

Both of her fights in the UFC so far have been at a 140 pound catch weight against unproven competition.

Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino is nearly everything the UFC could want from a superstar. She maybe one of the best strikers that Cyborg has faced in a while. Lansberg is tough, but this is very one-sided. He really likes to fight on his feet, but in his last fight, against Derrick Lewis, he proved to be able to take the fight to the ground.

Prediction: Lansberg will be a lamb led to the slaughter.

Renan Barao does not look to be himself.

The Barao we used to know may be gone forever. He should have enough to win this, though. Nelson (22-13) has won two of three.

According to Okamoto, it’s likely that the two stars will be ordered to pay hefty fines and they could also be forced to do community service. The other does not.

Francisco Trinaldo and Paul Felder aren’t lightweight title contenders, but on a card packed full of mismatches, this one is too close to call. She enters the Octagon and runs through the opposition like a hot knife through butter – and now she plans to showcase another slice of her skills against Lansberg, a largely unknown Swedish fighter that comes from a striking background. This is a tossup.
