UFC Fighter Matt Mitrione suffers Grossest Eye Injury Ever
Browne turned the tables on a reporter when asked about the “controversy” surounding the eyepokes, saying that there was unlikely to be a rematch, and that “I don’t understand the controversy”. The second caused a ringside doctor to come look at the damage. No point was taken away, but it clearly was impacting Mitrione. He was landing front kicks at will and looked to easily secure the round.

By third round of the match, Mitrione’s eye swelled to epic heights and even the audience could see that Mitrione’s end is near. He was landing strikes at will and then took him down.
Browne immediately moved to mount with over two minutes left and rained down punches and elbows until the referee stepped in to stop the fight.
He referenced the fact that there had been eye pokes from Browne, and that he believed he wouldn’t have suffered either of the injuries if his eye hadn’t been targeted.
The win improves Browne’s record to 18-3-1.

Mitrione, who was in the last fight of his UFC contract, ended the fight with his eye nearly completely swollen shut, though Dana White, the UFC President, said in the post-fight press conference that the injury was the result of a punch.
