UFC informed of potential Brock Lesnar doping violation

Per the UFC and USADA’s standard procedure on potential doping violations, the substance for which Lesnar tested positive was not disclosed, and will not be unless the fighter discloses it or the results management process has concluded.

Lesnar will head back to the professional wrestling scene in August as he faces Randy Orton at the World Wrestling Entertainment’s “SummerSlam” event, but he is not closing the doors on a potential UFC fight down the road. The Lesnar-Hunt match was the quintessential grappler versus striker match, Hunt was a decorated kickboxer with nuclear bombs on both hands and Lesnar is a HUGE former NCAA division I wrestler out of Minnesota who spent most of his life taking people down.

USADA, the statement continued, only received the June 28 testing results on Thursday, July 14, five days after Lesnar defeated Mark Hunt by unanimous decision.

Brock Lesnar may or may not fight again, but he’s still earned a top 10 ranking with the UFC.

Current UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic heard those UFC rumors about a possible Lesnar match and he did not back down from the possible challenge. So the odds were never going to be much in favor of him fighting multiple times this year, even if he wasn’t under an active WWE contract.

Fans will have to be patient and see what turns up in the next few months regarding Lesnar, but don’t be surprised to see the fighter make a run at a belt in 2016-2017. His reported total earning of $8 million for fighting Hunt at UFC 200 is rumored to be bigger than what he earns in a year wrestling. McMahon can offer him a larger deal with a clause that will allow him to fight in the UFC at least once a year.

The UFC is transitioning to new ownership and they could become partners with the WWE in the future. It should be noted that Lesnar won the heavyweight title in 2008 in just his second fight in the UFC and had a record of 1-1.
