Jones is now slated to challenge light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier on April 23 at UFC 197 to try and reclaim the crown that was stripped from him following last April’s felony hit-and-run arrest where a pregnant motorist suffered a broken arm.

UFC star Jon Jones was arrested on Tuesday for violating the terms of his probation.

Jones was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center at 11:07 a.m. Tuesday and his booking sheet indicates he is being held without bond.

Jones spoke to The MMA Hour and Ariel Helwani earlier this week to discuss the story. Jones insisted he was revving his engine at a red light for a fan and never drove beyond the speed limit.

The 28-year-old was cited for drag racing, exhibition driving, weaving and failing to properly display his license plate in Albuquerque on 24 March.

“Today, I had some of the best workouts I’ve had all camp”, Jones said in a Tweet.

‘You and I both know that I was not drag racing.

The status of Jones’ fight with Cormier now remains in limbo, pending this latest incident.

Yesterday afternoon, the Albuquerque Police Department released footage of the incident.

News came yesterday that former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones had been jailed for a probation violation due to the five traffic tickets he received during a stop in Albuquerque, New Mexico last Thursday. He can also be heard saying “I can’t (expletive) believe you”.

According to a report from MMAJunkie.com, Jones’ PR and crisis management firm EAG Sports confidently asserted that the incident will not hinder their client’s title fight next month.

Jon Jones has been arrested for a violation of probation stemming from a traffic citation. “I don’t think anything’s going to be happening there”, Jones said.

UFC has been in touch with Jones’ legal team but declined to comment further.

If that proves to be the case, the most logical option may be to postpone the bout with Cormier and bump Johnson vs. Cejudo to the main event position. “You’re ridiculous”, Jones said.
