UFC Prez Dana White Nixes McGregor & Diaz Trilogy … “I’m Movin’ On”

If we get a trilogy fight between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz, the victor of the rematch is now the odds-on favorite to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

There was blood – there was chaos – and there was revenge.

UFC 202 took place live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on August 20.

It was not a clean ride to the finish line, however.

– UFC President Dana White stated on the UFC 202 post-fight show that there will not be an immediate rematch between Diaz and McGregor.

“I respect him as a veteran”, Garbrandt said. Naturally, Diaz thought that he should have been chosen or scored a higher number of points on the card to get the majority decision in his favor, though he lamented that he could’ve done better things in his strategic attack to seal the victory.

“I proved the class difference”.

“It was a hell of fight, he’s a hell of a competitior”. “And I got that all on tape, just to set it up, not to make excuses cuz I got all that video’d up”. “Let’s regroup and do it again!” Do you think UFC wants their biggest draw participating on the biggest stage? “Come down to 155 and we’ll do it”.

The pro-Diaz Las Vegas crowd responded with every big left-jab, and support only grew as Diaz flipped McGregor the bird in the third round.

McGregor said he was going to defend his throne after getting upset by Diaz in March, then changed course and was adamant about avenging the shocking submission loss.

“I don’t think they’re going to do that, I mean how can they do that?” “That’s what I wanted this fight at”.

“Nothing else interests me”, Diaz said. A couple times I had it 1-1, then 2-1.

McGregor was caught limping out of the arena, sparking fears of a broken foot.

Diaz, for his part, believed he had won the fight and echoed his opponent’s calls for another rematch. I didn’t get to train, I had injuries. I’m about to go to [Light], Las Vegas, shout out to Light (laughs).

Let’s take a moment to put that into perspective: Nate Diaz made the third-highest disclosed purse in UFC history.

“S*** is going to hit the fan”, he said before limping out of the press conference. McGregor’s style is much akin to it and he indeed backs up his talk with a strong performance when it matters most.

The fight itself started off well for McGregor who twice downed Diaz in the first but he deliberately failed to take the fight to the mat, remaining standing when Diaz went down.
