UFC’s Mickey Gall — I’m Gonna Destroy CM Punk

The buildup for the fight was huge due to Punk’s superstar status as a former WWE wrestler, but he looked completely outmatched against Gall.

CM Punk is scheduled to fight Mickey Gall tomorrow, a relative newcomer into the professional leagues himself, in a Welterweight bout at UFC 203. Gall got Punk down right away, and he delivered multiple blows to the back of his opponent’s head and finally finished him via submission (rear-naked choke) at the 2:14 mark in the first round.

Gall discusses his first choice for a walkout song on Saturday, as well as his plans for Punk.

Prior to getting knocked out by Stipe Miocic in the very first round in the main event of UFC 203 in Cleveland, Ohio (see it again here), Alistair Overeem almost ended the fight with a guillotine choke after flooring the Heavyweight champion with a solid right hand. “I just remember punching him in the face repeatedly until he was unconscious”. “I became friends with him, he’s a nice guy and I have a lot of respect for him”.

“I think the 185ers, seeing how big and lean they are”, he said.

Gall said Punk rushing at him in the opening seconds set the tone. “I get angry about that”. But despite working with Duke Roufus and other top trainers at the Roufusport Martial Arts Academy in Milwaukee for the past year, he wasn’t ready for Gall. As Mickey put it. CM’s “gotta say that and maybe to a degree he believes that, probably not”.

Still, Punk intends to stick with his new love. He gave an inspiring speech about getting back up after being knocked down, and procalimed that this night was the most fun he’s ever had, and the second best night of his life after marrying his wife, former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee.
