UFC 202 takes place on August 20 in Las Vegas and their welterweight meeting could be very tasty.

The UFC announced the bout on Saturday night.

Diaz vs. McGregor II was initially slated to headline next month’s UFC 200 card but the bout was scrapped following McGregor’s refusal to fulfil certain media obligations. McGregor, the current UFC featherweight champion, was initially slated to challenge lightweight champ Rafael Dos Anjos to try and become the promotion’s first two-way title holder in the event until dos Anjos was forced to pull out with a broken foot.

“That was true. It wasn’t necessarily as much Nate Diaz as it was the management, but yeah I did (leave the dinner)”, White said. “We’re trying to set up a fight right now”.

“Conor is obsessed with this rematch at 170 pounds”.

On the other side, Diaz said he would not fight anyone other than McGregor.

“I’ve only just got back in the gym but my body is feeling good”.

McGregor will look to get revenge after Diaz submitted him as a short notice opponent in the second round of their 170-pound fight at UFC 196 back in March.

It appears all is well now that UFC boss Dana White was tagged with the “Stockton Slap” courtesy of BJJ master Nate Diaz.

“Nate, we signed a new deal going into that fight [at UFC 196], then he signed the contract for UFC 200”, White continued. “I’ll make my adjustments”.

The rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz may not happen soon due to several issues and complications.

A public feud between McGregor and the UFC ensued, which included McGregor tweeting that he was going to retire.
