UH, Temple have a lot riding on AAC title game
Temple redshirt senior WR Robby Anderson caught 12 passes for a season-high 150 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 24-13 loss to Houston in the American Athletic Conference Championship game.

It was a tough loss for the Temple Owls as they lost the AAC Championship Game to the Houston Cougars. The Cougars are led by quarterback Greg Ward Jr., who has thrown for 2,502 yards and 16 touchdowns to just five interceptions this season.
After Houston had already forced two turnovers and scored twice to take a 14-0 lead in the second quarter, Ward danced around a pack of Temple would-be tacklers before dashing 47 yards for a touchdown.
Overall, Houston’s stop unit possesses a 0.4 yards per play advantage from the line of scrimmage in this game, which is the same edge Temple has over the Cougars’ offense.
Out of six possessions inside the Houston 30-yard line, Temple had only a third-quarter touchdown pass from Walker to Anderson to show for it.
Houston is the offensive team that could cause some problems for a bigger school in one of those bowl games. Temple was 1-of-4 on fourth down attempts Saturday. The problem was sustaining drives and reaching the Houston end zone.
Henry tied the SEC record for touchdowns in a season with 23 and eclipsed Herschel Walker’s 34-year-old conference mark for yards rushing in a season with 1,986 with at least one more game left. Houston hosts No. 20 Temple (10-2, 7-1) for the league championship Saturday. In fact, it had three: Houston, Temple and Navy.
“You have to sit down and look at how far we have come”, he said. (1) prepares to stiff arm Temple Owls defensive back Will Hayes (32) during the Temple Owls at Houston Cougars game at TDECU Stadium, Houston, Texas. So anything that happens, they know about, and we talk about.
“When I’m talking to other about people about Temple, why it’s exciting – it’s the first time they’ve been ranked in 36 years”. They won 10 games for only the second time ever, joining the 1979 Garden State Bowl team, and it appears that they might actually be able to hold onto coach Matt Rhule for at least another season. “This is a unique, wonderful week in Temple football history”. “We had a couple plays get away from us”.
“We have a lot of guys coming back and some great players leaving”, Thomas said.
Walker connected with Anderson on a 13-yard touchdown pass that got Temple within 24-10 late in the third quarter.

He was 11 of 21 for 88 yards passing. But that’s over and we have a chance to correct those things and play an opponent in a bowl game.
