Wileyfox is the latest smartphone in the market to join the Cyanogen bandwagon and as with most of the Cyanogen powered phones, it promises to offer a bang for the buck.
Cyanogen OS 12.1 offers more customisation options than those offered by Google, and we’ve already used the Themes that provide the option to change everything from the handset’s fonts to the buttons. It’s a bit of a surprise because it’s from the United Kingdom but looks like our British friends want to compete within the Android game.
In terms of connectivity you’re looking at 4G LTE with dual SIM slots, alongside Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Swift will cost £129 and Storm £199. They will be available online only from Wileyfox’s website as well as selected retailers such as Amazon, eBay, Expansys and Clove. Both will be available to pre-order from this week, to arrive from the start of October. Responsive, well-built, reliable, quick-charging handsets with great battery life. The British company wants to disrupt how the market works by offering consumers high-spec phones at low prices, with no contracts or long-term commitments. Under the hood is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC with 2GB of RAM on tap. Finally, it boasts a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel selfie snapper to round out its cheap, but surprisingly cheerful spec sheet.
It’s certainly a tempting proposition, and Wileyfox hopes its low prices will help seal the deal when both phones launch later this year. You’ll need to create a Cyanogen account before you can use this feature, however.
Wileyfox CEO Nick Muir, who joined the company in July having left Motorola as its UK and Ireland general manager in May, said: “Our target customer values choice, security and reassurance”.
We see plenty of new smartphones come along from various well-known manufacturers, but sometimes a new company hits the scene with some interesting devices.

While some may brand Wileyfox as a latecomer – considering the fact that many, including several top analysts, now think that the smartphone market, and more particularly the android sector has reached its saturation point – others argue that there is still room to stretch, and Wileyfox’s strategy is certainly sound.
