UK Labour leader Corbyn says he plans no purge of critics

“I’m reaching out to all our MPs, having lots of discussions with them”, said Mr Corbyn. A personal position of hardline socialist rhetoric continues after a fruitless and ineffective leadership challenge.

During the election campaign, he rejected his critics’ accusation that Labour was incapable of winning a parliamentary majority under his leadership.

“Corbyn’s solution to the uncontrolled wage reducing European Union migration which even he admits depresses the wages of United Kingdom unskilled workers is some sort of mysterious “migrant fund”.

“I wish them well”. “What a great base for Labour to get back into government to rebuild and transform Britain”. These are the same parties which preside over unparalleled levels of youth unemployment and policies which have bankrupted numerous smaller economies in the bloc.

Jeremy Corbyn has suggested some Labour MPs may be deselected by local party activists ahead of the next general election.

Ms Davidson said that while “1997 will stick in the mind for an entire generation” for many of those who had voted Labour then “that election night now feels a long, long time ago”.

And he said that conference – which lost most of its decision-making powers under Tony Blair – should “move very much more to the centre of concluding our policy debates”.

He also said that “the whole party”, including Labour members of Parliament, had a responsibility to “respect the democratic choice that’s been made”.

“I accept he has substantial support, but my belief is this is a small proportion of the overall electorate and the vast majority can see the Conservatives will drive up standards in schools, keep the economy motoring along and project Britain across the world”. These moves were seen by pro-Corbyn supporters as moves to try and restrict the MP from retaining his lead – however, if such moves were intended in such a way, they have fallen flat. An election in 2017, however, looks far more feasible and is now trading at an intriguing [2.74].

Gareth Thomas, who nominated Jeremy Corbyn for last year’s leadership contest only to vote for a more centrist candidate, said: “Labour will now have to unite to focus our attack on Theresa May’s Tory (Conservative) Party”.

Mr Umunna dismissed reports that he was being lined up to challenge Mr Corbyn before the next general election.

“Jeremy is going to be the leader, I believe, going into the next election”.

The former shadow education secretary has previously spoken out against Mr Corbyn’s leadership of the party, saying the “experiment with Corbynism has to end”.
