UK Minister: Britons May Need Visas to Visit EU After Brexit
Londoners voted almost 60% in favour of remaining within the European Union in this summer’s referendum, despite the United Kingdom as a whole deciding to pull out.

Sharp depreciation of sterling after the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union was aiding the exports. “I see the European Union free trade agreement as certainly commencing formal negotiations well and truly prior to anything that might happen with the United Kingdom”.
“You can not dance with two people at once”, British Labour representative David Martin said. But behind the scenes, countries are pragmatic.
Ciobo, in London for talks with the global trade secretary, Liam Fox, said a deal with the European Union would be placed first.
“What the investment market and us want is certainty of time frame”. We’re always happy to talk trade.
As EU citizens, though not part of the Schengen free movement area, United Kingdom nationals must show a valid passport to enter the zone but can then travel freely within it.
The United Kingdom’s trade deficit narrowed considerably in July – exports were up by £800 million to £28.4 billion, while imports declined by £300 million to £36.6 billion.
At stake is Britain’s position as a major world economy along with its future economic and employment growth.
Tusk – who oversaw the UK’s European Union renegotiation prior to the in/out referendum – has said he wants to see a “velvet divorce” between the United Kingdom and European Union, but he has also insisted that there will be no formal talks until the United Kingdom triggers the formal process for leaving under Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty.
“But I am convinced that at the end of the day our common strategy goal [is] to establish the best possible relations between the United Kingdom and the European Union”, Tusk told May.
The ONS said the trade gap was helped by a rise in the export of ships and fuel, which both stepped up by £500 million.
With a British election due in 2020, May could feel under pressure to get deals done.
Prime Minister Theresa May used this month’s G20 summit in China to explore potential trade deals with Australia, India, Mexico, Singapore and South Korea.
Before the department was created, then business minister Sajid Javid said he wanted to have 300 experts in place this year, up from around 40. The deal British government now seems to want is not one they are going to get easily, or even at all.
“We have to confront those issues and demonstrate our determination, and our capacity, to ensure on the one hand the openness of Europe, while on the other the protection of our citizens”, Tusk said.
Options include hiring experts from law firms, banks or consultancies, something which is likely to prove expensive. Yes, it’s bitter. Yes, we’re angry and sad – but so are the 16 million people in the United Kingdom that actually voted to remain; so are the youth in Britain, and those who weren’t eligible to vote.
“In terms of negotiators, we have already had strong expressions of interest from individuals, organisations and governments”.
“I know many people are keen to see rapid progress and to understand what post-Brexit Britain will look like. So we’d better train up, you’d better have some pretty intensive crash training programs for indigenous Britons”. “And if this is not feasible, the fall-back position will be an ordinary trade agreement between Britain and the European Union”.

The EU’s recently concluded deal with Canada only included limited provision for services and maintains some restrictions over financial services access, a crucial area for Britain.
