BRIGHTON, United Kingdom-New Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn failed to force a vote on the totemic issue of Britain’s nuclear deterrent program Trident as the party opened its annual conference on Sunday.

He accused the SNP of letting its left-of-centre voters down on issues like wages, rents and taxes and insisted that Labour was now “the only anti-austerity party” in Scotland.

Writing on the Guardian website, Mr Heller said he was in Pakistan working on a cricket book when he learnt that his words had been heavily featured in Mr Corbyn’s speech.

“I want our policy review to tackle this in a really serious way and consider opening up statutory maternity and paternity pay to the self-employed, so all newborn children can get the same level of care from their parents”.

Throughout the speech, women were much more likely to agree with the Labour leader – and Mr Corbyn was particularly popular with people under the age of 34.

“Let me be clear that we will guarantee the independence of the Bank of England”, McDonnell said, aiming to calm fears after he had called for the government to reclaim the power to set interest rates.

“Vodafone has always paid its taxes and for the last financial year we paid around £360 million in direct taxes in the United Kingdom”, said a statement from the company.

While we are more positive about the UK’s current economic performance, Jeremy Corbyn did identify several areas of concern that will chime with businesses.

“It’s because I am driven by these British majority values, because I love this country, that I want to rid it of injustice, to make it fairer, more decent, more equal”.

Meanwhile, Rodeny Shakespeare, a London-based political expert rejected the idea that austerity policy will resolve the existing economic problems.

‘He’s fought all his political life for the things he was speaking about so it does come from the heart.

Mr Corbyn received loud and prolonged applause from delegates as he claimed the Conservatives believed those with little or nothing must “accept the place assigned to them by competitive markets”. “Let us put our values, the people’s values back into politics”.

This policy will be introduced gradually from 2017, but the exact details of how it will be implemented are still to be revealed.

“So I say to all activists, whether Labour or not, cut out the personal attacks”.

She also told the conference in Brighton: “We need the European Union to uphold our human rights because if Cameron does his Bill of Rights we might as well walk into the gas chamber today”.
