Yesterday we reported that Nigeria’s Chierika Ukogu, 23 qualified for the semifinals of the #RioOlympics2016 rowing event.
Ukogu finished fifth in Quarterfinal 3 and after initially confusion over her status, she was confirmed for a place in the semis.
Ukogu is the first Nigerian to represent the country in rowing describing how she would love to make Nigeria proud in the rowing event.
The athlete, who is also a graduate of Stanford University, was grouped alongside two other Africans in her quarter final race.
Ukogu made a lot of sacrifices to represent Nigeria several times through private sponsorship to qualify for the 2016 Olympics.
