A Saudi-led coalition airstrike on Monday hit a wedding party in Yemen, and medical officials Tuesday said the death toll has risen to 131 – making it the deadliest incident in the civil war.
In her first testimony at her trial for the murder of two Russian journalists in Ukraine last summer, Miss Savchenko denied the charges and said she had been brought into Russia “against my will”.
Kiev said on Wednesday it had struck an initial agreement with pro-Russian insurgents to withdraw smaller weapons from the buffer zone splitting eastern rebel lands from the rest of Ukraine.
Breedlove said Russia already has A2/ADs in the Baltic Sea and Black Sea regions, depicting its Syria move as an expansion of Russian influence rather than a counter-IS scheme. Evidence points to Russian Federation, but their vetoes on the council have stalled investigations to find out “who organized this crime and from which country the mentioned arms had been transported”.
Myroslava Gongadze, TV anchor and reporter for Voice of America’s Ukrainian services, discusses the fragile cease-fire between Ukraine and Russian Federation, and tells The Takeaway about Ukrainians’ concerns at the United Nations this week.
The United Nations should create a role for the worldwide Court of Justice and the global Criminal Court to fight terrorism, and it should impose limits on the veto power held by the five permanent members of the Security Council, Poroshenko said.
“What and who is next?” he asked.
“We are dealing here with a desire to return to the imperial times with a sphere of influence, in a desperate attempt to obtain self-affirmation at others expense”, he said, adding that Russian Federation was financing “terrorists and mercenaries”.
“How can you urge an anti-terrorist coalition if you inspire terrorism right inside your door?” he said. How can you speak of freedom of nations, if you punish your neighbor for this choice.
With complex reforms taking place in Ukraine, Poroshenko has focused his visit to the U.S. on the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

The conflict in Ukraine’s eastern territories will prohibit reaching the UN’s development goals in the country, President Petro Poroshenko said Sunday.
