Chetia was earlier sent to 5 days custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Forty-eight-year-old Chetia was arrested by the CBI under RC (Regular Case) No. 4(S)/1988 in connection with a murder in Golaghat (Assam). The pro-talk leaders are now expected to meet Chetia in Guwahati Jail and discuss the issue.
He said the peace process involved several organisations.
However, Chetia’s legal team is believed to be moving the higher court shortly for his bail.
The next round of talks are slated on November 24 at the national capital and it would be the first talks after ULFAs general secretary Anup Chetia was extradited from Bangladesh last week.
Disclosing that the founding member of the Ulfa is also reluctant to be a part of the ongoing peace process with pro-talk faction of Ulfa, authoritative security sources told this newspaper that Anup Chetia doesn’t want to associate himself with elusive Ulfa chief Paresh Baruah as well.
The ULFA general Secretary was brought to Guwahati this morning reportedly from Delhi and was directly taken from the airport here to Assam Police Special Branch headquarters at Kahilipara before being produced in the court at 4 p.m.
“He would be lodged in Guwahati Central Jail and the court has also asked the jail authorities to arrange good food and medicines for Chetia during the custody”, said Mahajan.
