Ultimate Ears launches UE Boom 2 wireless, waterproof speaker
For the past couple of years, UE Boom has been the popular Bluetooth speaker among people.

Although Boom 2 looks similar from the outside, UE claims to have made a raft of changes, from subtle aesthetic tweaks to wholesale changes including a brand new speaker design. The original UE Boom is consistently the second best selling Bluetooth speaker here in the United Kingdom and in the USA, and it’s clear to see why: with a stain- and water-resistant skin, cylindrical design and angled drivers for an enveloping sound, and plenty of colour choices, it’s a fun speaker that won’t crap out on you in the rain. The UE Boom 2 is also better for outdoors use this time around, as it’s now IPX7 waterproof. The UE BOOM 2 was clearly created to be used anywhere. That means it will still slide into a bike bottle holder, and the rubber skin can absorb impacts from chest height.
Here’s video of the UE Boom 2 being launched in Australia! As the world moves toward streaming music on services like Spotify and Apple Music, Bluetooth speakers make it easier than ever to enjoy ear-tickling music wherever you go.
I’ve been listening to the BOOM 2 for the past few days, and it’s certainly a powerful little speaker.
That’s not to say it’s the same speaker, far from it in fact.
“Music is about making good moments great moments”, said Rory Dooley, general manager of Ultimate Ears.
Whether you plan to take it with you in mountain trips or at the seaside, Boom 2 will be your most reliable companion. “We’ve been leading the category in a new direction, and we’re breaking the mold yet again with UE BOOM 2″.
The UE Boom 2’s biggest new development is a fully waterproof design, which it shares with the two other UE Bluetooth speakers that dropped since the Boom’s original release: The Megaboom and the Roll. The Boom 2’s gestures only work when an accelerometer inside detects that the device isn’t sitting still, so you avoid accidentally triggering playback controls.
As before, the Boom 2 has an optional app that lets you pair it with other UE speakers you might own.

The Ultimate Ears Boom 2 is available for sale now through the product Web page, with a retail price of $199.99. And like the old Boom, it’ll come in a bunch of different colors: BrainFreeze, Cherrybomb, GreenMachine, Phantom, Tropical, and Yeti.
