Umar Akmal omitted from T20 squad for attended dance party in Hyderabad

Umar Akmal has been omitted from Pakistan’s Twenty20 squad to face England, but veteran batsman Rafatullah Mohmand is in contention for an global debut nearly two decades on from his maiden first-class appearance.

Pakistan’s middle order batsman Umar Akmal dropped from the team as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday issued show cause notice to him for violating the PCB’s code of conduct by attending dance party, Capital TV reported.

The PCB didn’t elaborate what Akmal did, and chief selector Haroon Rashid said Akmal was issued a show cause notice and dropped on the instructions of the PCB.

The incident also cost the 25-year-old batsman a place in Pakistan’s T20 squad for the series against England in the UAE. Meanwhile Imad Wasim has been conditionally announced as part of the team however he will have to undergo a fitness test. If he failed to prove fitness Bilal Asif will be inducted in team.

The second T20 is on 27 November, and the third three days later.
