Today Capcom has confirmed the release date for their Resident Evil spin-off Umbrella Corps, which is set to launch digitally for PlayStation 4 and PC this May.

The game was initially announced during the SCEJA Press Conference 2015 as a new third-person shooter that will put you in teams for competitive action.

Things haven’t been great for the Resident Evil franchise the last few years, at least not here in North America, but Capcom is hoping a slight change on its traditional zombie formula could breathe new life into one of the most recognizable properties in the gaming industry.

There’s support for up to six players and mostly focuses on online play, but there will be a solo mode with 20 missions that are described as horde-like.

Umbrella Corps will retails for $30 and will be a digital only release for those platforms. The famed Village from RE4 has been retooled for heated multiplayer matches that escalate to the rooftops, while the Tricell organization from RE5 has a newly-imagined headquarters to explore.

Umbrella Corps is an online multiplayer shooter where players compete as teams of three mercenaries, fighting against each other while also dealing with zombies and other Resident Evil creatures. More information on additional maps and modes are still to come. Each stage will contain various Resident Evil foes wandering the map. Are you interested in downloading it in a few months?
