The HNC has said it will give the ceasefire a fortnight to test the sincerity of the Syrian government and Russia, Bashar al-Assad’s chief sponsor.

One of the main purposes of the cessation of hostilities is to allow aid to reach civilians, especially in besieged areas cut off from supplies.
SANA says the two leaders stressed the importance of continuing to fight the Islamic State, the Nusra Front “and other terrorist organizations”.
“It must be known that the ceasefire is valid in Syria”, Davutoglu said in televised remarks in the central Anatolian province of Konya.

In order to promote the implementation of the cessation of hostilities, a Cease-fire Task Force co-chaired by the United States and Russian Federation has been established under U.N. auspices. Turkey, which considers YPG an offshoot of the outlawed Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK), has said it will consider the truce broken if it were threatened by the so-called “Islamic State” or the YPG.
