The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group confirmed on Wednesday that the airstrikes on a hospital and nearby buildings in Aleppo were carried out by “regime airplanes”. A gray cloud of dust fills a street, and people cover their mouths as they run away.

When asked on Wednesday whether a new date had been set, Sabra said it was up to the United Nations to say when peace talks would resume, pointing out that the opposition would not take part until its demands were met.

He added that HNC has not yet received an official invitation for a concrete date from UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura but did not rule out that the invitation may be sent in the next couple of days.

The organization, also known as the White Helmets, has received global praise for its rescue operations in Syria.

The foreign-backed opposition walked out of the Geneva-based negotiations last week, bringing the talks close to the breakdown.

Fawzi spoke ahead of meetings Tuesday in Geneva, including one between de Mistura and the Syrian government delegation and one by a task force that monitors Syria’s increasingly wobbly cease-fire.

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem said on the same day that Turkey and other countries were supplying “terrorists” in Syria with advanced weapons. Clearing the Manbij area would pave the way for the creation of a “safe zone”, he said.
