UN Security Council condemns ballistic missile launches by North Korea
“What we are doing is trying to cope with the current situation where the United States is trying to threaten the DPRK with nuclear weapons, so we are trying to strengthen our nuclear capabilities in order to cope with threats that are imposed on the DPRK”, she added, using an acronym for the country typically used by government officials.

A day after the UN Security Council held an emergency meeting on North Korea’s two missile tests, it adopted a press statement condemning Pyongyang’s continuous violations of its obligations to the global community. KCNA said the missile had been fired at a high angle to simulate its full range, and had reached a maximum height of more than 1,400 kilometres.
“If we do nothing, this ends in a successful flight test of the Musudan-based KN-08”, Lewis said.
In an interview with Law Street, Lewis compared North Korea’s missile tests to students who might not achieve ideal scores, “but that doesn’t mean they aren’t learning”.
“We have the sure capability to attack in an overall and practical way the Americans in the Pacific operational theater”, stated the leader of the North Korean regime.
The Security Council said Wednesday’s back-to-back launches of two Musudan mid-range missiles inflamed tensions and contributed to North Korea’s development of delivery systems for its nuclear weapons.
South Korea and the United States revealed early Wednesday that the North had launched two suspected Musudan projectiles from its east coast – the second of which flew 400 kilometers (248 miles) and was seen as a relative achievement after five failed tests of the model since April.
Refuting the contention in the United Nations report, Swarup said: “We believe that these courses are unlikely to contribute in any way to a violation of the various United Nations sanctions against North Korea”.
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, speaking before the Security Council, described North Korea’s latest ballistic missile launches as a “brazen and irresponsible act”, according to Reuters. He said because of the Korean Peninsula’s location and size, North Korea launches its missiles at more vertical trajectories because it is hard for them “to get a clean shot without flying over somebody”, like Japan. The Korean War-which stretched from 1950-53-ended in an armistice, not a peace treaty, which means the conflict is frozen, locked in a temporary truce, not a permanent peace.
The US, Nato, Japan and South Korea denounced the test. South Korean authorities recovered the other half.

The UN report says that now, the centre has two N Korean students studying there, one of whom is affiliated with North Korea’s National Aerospace Development Administration – a key player in the country’s nuclear development programme.
